at 1056 pm pdt, doppler radar indicated strong Thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These Thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 12 nm northwest of cape mendocino to 37 nm southwest of eureka, moving northeast at 25 knots.

water spouts are possible along with stronger Thunderstorms...locally higher waves...and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Synopsis for northern california waters..Winds have or will become generally westerly today then turn southerly Monday in advance of an approaching cold front, as it moves east through the waters. By Tuesday, ridging will build over the west coast, allowing surface high pressure to strengthen off the coast. Northerly winds will increase with gales likely beginning as early as Tuesday. Waves will become very steep as the winds ramp up. Combined wave height will be above 10 feet by Tuesday night as well.
